Dear Colleagues and Partners,
We are pleased to share with you the tenth edition of our News Journal. This edition highlights the special relationship that ADEA and the African Union Commission are strengthening through the hosting of COMED at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. COMED will be moving to Ethiopia in the next few weeks.
In this edition, we have republished an interview with the Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology at the African Union Commission, Dr. Martial De-Paul Ikounga. He has given us some insightful thoughts about the new relationship between ADEA and the African Union Commission. We also carry a brief analysis of the work that COMED has been doing since 1998. This analysis is based on previous evaluations done on ADEA and COMED.
We also have another interview from the Inter Press Services with the Secretary General of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific (APC) Group of countries, Dr. Patrick Gomes, who speaks about the need to do development differently in the post-2015 era. We also reproduce an article published by this News Journal last year by Birger Fredriksen and Ruth Kagia, both former officials of the World Bank on breaking the human capital barrier in order to attain the 2050 vision for Africa. In the same vein, We bring back another article from The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr. Kkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, who analyzed Africa’s Agenda 2063 in the current context.
